I'm pretty sure today's tornado was an eye opening experience for many of us who live in S. Ontario and the GTA; we're just not use to seeing such destruction brought on by mother nature. I was on the subway when the tornado hit so I didn't know what the extent of the damage really was - I just saw a lot of rain and lighting. But when I got home to Vaughan I saw the real extent of damage; houses on my street had shingles fly off from their roofs; fences collapsed, trees cut in half; one house lost its roof completely. Luckily my house managed to avoid serious damage but, I can't say the same for a lot of the neighbors.
It always intrigued me how rare tornadoes were in the GTA when you consider the fact that the GTA is apart of tornado alley. Nonetheless I'm just glad that there were no serious injuries in the area.

Wish I had taken more photos that night but this was the only one.
The GTA is not a part of tornado alley.
ReplyDeleteAfter some research I stand corrected. Although I could've sworn this was what I was taught in gr.7 Geography
